The Sale and Purchase division provides a complete service from the contracting of New Buildings through to second-hand sales and demolition.

Our depth of experience in diverse market environments allows us to support our clients at all levels of their decision making.

New Building

Our newbuilding team has since the turn of the millennium brokered and successfully followed through newbuilding projects as follows:

Product carriers (handy – LR2) : 59, Crude (Aframax-VLCC): 63 , VLGC : 8 and close to 150 drycargo and container vessels at major yards in Korea, China and Japan.

Being able to draw on experienced brokers with both technical and commercial background, with long term relationships at the respective yards, Galbraith’s is a qualified participant that can bring added value to any project - able to assist in our clients newbuilding deliberations.

Following the opening of our Korea Liaison office will further strengthen Galbraith’s newbuilding coverage and expertise, enabling us to bring you fresh opportunities and ideas in close cooperation with finance house ABG Sundal Collier ASA.

This business is the heart of the division’s activities and covers the full range of ship types. The location of the Sale & Purchase division alongside our two chartering divisions encourages close co-operation between all departments and leads to frequent project transactions involving sales and long term charters on oil tankers, gas carriers and bulk carriers.

This highly specialised activity completes the full service role. Galbraith’s continued activity in this sector enables us to constantly keep clients well informed of market prices and yard space in the major demolition markets of the Indian sub-continent, the Far East and Turkey.

Over the years Galbraith’s has maintained its position as a leading ship valuer acting on behalf of banks, insurance companies, solicitors and P&I clubs and is a founder member of The Ship Valuation Panel.
